There are MANY things that could go wrong if you try to do it yourself. Infection, bad placement, rejection, etc.
Trust me, I did mine myself the first time around and it got infected and rejected itself, the only one of my 12 piercings that has done so, and I used antiseptic, cleaned it regularly, and all that, but it still got infected.
If you are just trying to do it yourself because you are under age to have it done w/o a parents permission and your parent says no just wait. Trust me, its better to wait.
